Technically, it was heaps faster. As I recall (last time I watched my copy on DVD) they show scenes of other things happening as she is being chased, like Tommy and Loomis listening to the radio as they're doing whatever it is that they do. If you add up all of the chasing etc, it only takes about 5 minutes. The wait was all worth it, impaled! Ouch
