WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS! They say that I have shed innocent blood. What's blood for if not for shedding?
- CandymanCandyman is an outstanding horror film in most every respect that deserves more appreciation than it gets. However, with a new special edition DVD on the way, this may get the appreciation and reccognition it deserves. Acting: Great job in this category. Virginia Madsen is fantastic as the herione of the film and holds the story together. Tony Todd is great and quite creepy as Candyman. He deserves to be considered one of the great horror icons. Xander Berkeley was good, but I caught on to the fact he was having an affair way too soon. Special FX: Very cool here. The blood and gore looks very realistic and the bee effects were cool, too. The wound in Candyman's stomach with all the bees was cool, too. Direction: Subtly creepy and eerie. Bernard Rose did a great job. Overall: If you haven't seen Candyman, see it now. It's great in all aspects and is gritty, realistic, and very scary. Walk up to the mirror and say his name three times. You won't find a better experiance in terror than if you opened the Lament Configuration. Rating: 9/10

Good review. Candyman is very overlooked in that aspect.

I agree. He's much better than Ghostface, who gets WAY too much fan attention.

Actually, I watched ‘candyman’ for the first time last night and I gotta say, it was pretty good. The candyman has awesome special abilities, and I now understand why hes so cool. and he could kick the living crap out of ghostface any day. The only reason why ghost face is so popular is because scream was hyped more than candyman and had big name stars… maybe if candyman didn’t pull a ‘star wars’ it would’ve been a bigger hit…

In my opinion, Scream was entertaining, but NOT horror under ANY circumstances.

yes, 'Scream' wasn't scary it was a decent enough movie, but not really scary. Ghostface is a teenager in a mask. Why would someone find this scary?? Candyman is a badass with a hook for a hand that comes out when you say his name three times in the mirror. Candyman is hard to take down. But Ghostface?? In the word of Dee Snider "If you were ever afraid of that mask you should be ashamed of yourself, If it was me I would have pulled that mask off, slapped that pimply faced teen and said Cut the shit!"

Scream was entertaining, but it ruined most horror films in the 90s.
