Pay to get in. Pray to get out.www.terrortrap.com/slasherfrenzy/funhouse/funhouse05.jpgwww.terrortrap.com/slasherfrenzy/funhouse/funhouse06.jpgTobe Hooper's Masterpiece, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, is always remembered by horror fans, but The Funhouse is one of his forgotten gems. Creepy and bizzare, it's one of Hooper's better films. Acting: Okay. Nothing really standout but still pretty good. Special FX: Pretty Good. The monster is good but making its face more "moveable" would have been a good choice. Directing: Hooper uses the film's location to his advantage. I dug all those kooky animatronic Funhouse attractions flashes and clips, as they were very creepy and bizzare. The atmosphere is fantastic. Great work here. Overall: The Funhouse works on many levels. The begining totally rips off Halloween and Psycho, but the characters were more believable and weren't just meat waiting to be chopped up. The atmosphere, lighting, and location are the film's main assets. I found the ending outside the Funhouse was quite chilling. The Funhouse is often overlooked, but I like it. Rating: 8.5/10

Tell that to Pennywise. But I thought it was great, too. The location was definently a HUGE asset.

I thought it was a good movie...liked the ending. Sure, it has many minor flaws, but they can all be over-looked and I do not feel they in any way completely ruined the film.

Great to see someone else praising this film.
I loved the look of the film and John Beal's score over the title sequences with the fairground marionettes. The kid brother deserved the comebacks he got, especially from that driver near the fairground.
I also like the ghost train scare as well involving one of the teenagers.

I thought the film was stupid, horrible, and it lacked in anything. Sure, it's got a creepy look to it (Who would want to be stuck in a funhouse all night?), but what else is interesting. The ONLY thing that even slightly scared me was when the nerdy looking doofus was accidently killed when he was trying to get away on the miner's cart. The monster-ish creature was lame, and most of the deaths were too damn cheesy for that time. EDIT: What type of fucking drugs was I on when I typed this? I had like 49592438 grammar errors...

I guess some people just have polar opposite opinions on some movies.

I have never seen this. What is the story about? There's a monster? Can i get more info? 4 friends head out to the Carnival and decide to spend the night in the funhouse. But while in the funhouse they witness a bizzare, retarded freak in a Frankenstein mask murder the fortune teller. But when they're discovered, they have to fight to get out alive.
