Not a bad film, but not so great. The Wendigo itself reminded me of the jackalope, a pretty scary villiain in my opinion. Definately someone you don't want to mess with. The main characters were great, and likeable, except for that mean hick who kept trying to ruin their lives (I'm glad he dies). Anyways the overall story was not bad.
The story goes that a family moves to a cabin for a vacation, but something lives in the forest that is better left unknown. At the cabin they meat an 'unfriendly' guy who wants money, of course they say no, but the guy keeps going (and believe me he's not going to stop). So the hick tries to kill that father while he sleds with the son. The hick shoots, and the father barely survives. Guess who saves him? The WENDIGO! Not so bad afterall you say, but just keep reading. So the hick finds out he's not dead, but the Wendigo has his way on him..ripping him to pieces.
Check this one out, you might like it. (The hick's not the only person the wendigo kills)

Wait a minute...the Jackalope..as in the rabbit with antlers?? I thought Wendigo looked like a man-beast or somethin similar...in Ginger Snaps Back the werewolves are called the Wendigo..
Anywayz Ive been wanting to see this film for quite some time. My first encounter with the legend of the Wendigo came with the Villain Wendigo in the Xmen arcade game! After that I looked it up and found it to be a native american legend. Wel I hope to see the movie sometime soon!

Well it didn't look like a rabbit, just the antlers, and the wendigo in this gets bigger by every eat, so by the end of the movie he's like 20 feet tall, and he looked like a werewolf from The Howling.

Bub, "wendigo" is the a native american monster that eats everything that abuses the forest.
The person who told you that, has no idea what he's tlaking about, and by the way where did you hear that?

Wendigo was described in "Ravenous" as being a Native American spirit that would possess a person who ate the flesh of another human being (cannibalism basically). The spirit would allow the cannibal to gain the strength of the person s/he ate. So, the cannibal would gain super human strength and on top of that some new abilities. On the down side the cannibal must continue eating human flesh or else s/he will suffer from having incredible nightmares and hunger.
Anyway, Wendigo (the movie) was not well executed. I didn't like it one bit. However, I did like director Larry Fesenden's first feature length film called "Habit" that deals with a vampirism. Check that one out if you can find it.

I heard in a review that the only glimpse we get of the beast is a brief shot of him running a truck off the road. I also read a short story based on the Wendigo but i dont remmeber most of it... I recall the Wendigo in that story was an unseen force that picked up a hunter's native american guide and carried him through the forest so fast that he caught fire and died...it was called "The Wendigo"...clever eh?
