***Competition Closed!!!!***
Winner: horror4ever
The winner of this competition will win a VHS copy of the film "8mm". This is a NTSC version of the film, and thus is only open to those of you living in the US or Canada (sorry!) To win you must write a review (at least 250 words) of "8mm". You can praise it, you can trash it (though probably not a wise action), say whatever you want to say, just make it at least 250 words. I will then choose the review which I like the most, and will then award the VHS to that writer, I will accept submissions until Jan. 1st, 2005.
Competition Requirement: You must be a resident of USA/Canada. Enter before the 1st of January, 2005. Write a 250+ word review of "8mm"
PS: This is my used copy (I updated to DVD), but it's still in great condition....
Good luck to all!

While I think Nicholas Cage is a great actor, he has done better. Cage's acting improves as the movie goes on. The portrayal of how he slips into the dark side is excellent, and is well-suited for his style of intense acting. The movie is peppered with interesting characters, including a couple sleazy pornographers, a sleazy lawyer, the young girl's mother, the industrialist's wife, and Welles' friend Max California (Joaquin Phoenix), but most of the screen time is devoted to Cage. The cinematography is pretty decent and complements the dark nature of the film well. Overall I'd say this is a fairly excellent movie and would rate it an 8 out of 10 stars.

.... I guess no one cares.... Its hard to do a review for a movie you've never seen, and if you have seen it enough to give a review, ya prolly own it anyway. If not, its a matter of weather the film blew you away and you really wanted a copy of it.
