I don't think it's odd. I like Gore too, and "Halloween" is one of my favorite horror films as well. The reasons are simple: It's just a really well made, original, creappy, fucking good movie. So regardless of its gore level, it's still a fantastic movie, no way around it. True words. Gore can't make a good movie. Great movies are great regardless of gore.

Don't get me wrong, I love Halloween also and I have since I was a kid, I just prefer movies with high amount of blood and guts. Nothing wrong with that. I am glad that not many people like the films that I do, low budget and obscure to most people.LBLF

I usually like most horror movies, but the horror movies with a stronger story and script are usually better to me. Gore is simply an extra.

True words. Gore can't make a good movie. Great movies are great regardless of gore. I completely agree. An example that always comes to mind would be Premutos: Lord of the Living Dead which is the most amateurish dog shit I've ever seen even though it is filled with senseless gore. I believe some films are made only to try and beat the gore level in Dead-Alive, but they fail to capture the hilarious dark cartoon-like humour and farcical madness of it all. In other words, if a film concentrates solely on the gore then it is likely that it will not succeed. On the flip side, if a film HIDES the gore using blocking, abrupt fade outs, silhouettes, fast editing and any other technique then a true horror fan should become irritated right away. Hiding the gore like that is the equivalent of blurring a pussy in porn films. Fuck off and show it!!

I just watched "Cradle of Fear" yesterday, and it definately was a movie that was all aboout the gore. The gore was really good, and totally believable, however the story/acting was not exactly top notch, and thus the movie suffered quite a bit.
(on a 2nd note some the CGI effects used in the movie are so fake looking that I honestly [dead serious] laughed out loud at it.

Sometimes, gore saves movies. And other times, a Horror film is great without gore. Take Halloween 4 for example. Very little gore is in there, but it's a great film anyway. Some films with gore (Dead-Alive for example.), rock the house. But other times, movies with no gore are also fun.

I agree that there are tons of good films out there that have little gore but if a film can be good and have tons of gore that great.
