Producer Bob Ducsay has been busy promoting the Van Helsing DVD, but in a recent interview he talked about The Mummy 3 and Flash Gordon.
"There may be, but there isn't one in development right now," Ducsay said in regards to The Mummy 3. "It is something we've had discussions about, though. We know there is an appetite for it. At both Universal theme parks over the summer we opened Mummy rides and they are really popular. But that doesn't necessarily mean there is a story to tell. If there is a good story to tell then there will be a Mummy 3 because the audience will smell it out."
And regarding the Flash Gordon remake with partner Stephen Sommers, Ducsay says that it's in the earliest stages. "We just acquired the rights so there isn't much to tell. There is no writer yet. We imagine it to be an action-adventure film along the lines of the Mummy films."
