What are everyone who watched it's thoughts on "The Evil Dead", and score out of 10 (no .5's please). Please remember a score out of 10.
"The Evil Dead" is great! Bruce Campbell is great! The gore is reat! Shot on a super low budget the whole movie, is well, great! So be it the story, the acting, the effects, everything; it's all quite incredible considering the money involved. The movie is just simply wonderful! Did I mention that the movie is great!?!?
My Score: 8/10
Scores will be collected until Monday, when we talk about week #5's film.

I dont know anyone who doesn't like this movie, its everything you want from a horror flick. It was spooky, it was gory, and a bitch got raped by a tree. The acting was very hokey, mainly in the beginning, but it wasn't bad enough to be anymore then a slight distraction. One of my favorite movies, I'll give it a 9/10.

Evil Dead is the pinnacle of low budget horror films. The acting isn't masterful, of course, but it isn't bad or unconvincing. It tends to lag a little, too. Nevertheless, what the crew of Evil Dead were able to accomplish making this film with so little money is a truly noble and fantastic effort. The fx are crude, yet ultimately convincing. The location is fantastic and gloomy. The direction by Raimi is groundbreaking, especially the famous camera-moving-through-the forrest like something is chasing you angle. Simply, Evil Dead is a film that all other low budget filmmakers want to make something like.
10/10

I love the gore and admit it was good for it's budget, but I still think this is an overrated movie.

Can't say I enjoyed the original all too much. Sure it's good for a low-budget indie film but I just can't say anything better about it as a film on its own competing with the rest.
6/10

I love the gore and admit it was good for it's budget, but I still think this is an overrated movie. I'm going to agree with this. As far as its budget, The Evil Dead is a masterpiece of low-budget filmmaking. However, its lack of a decent budget does not permit this film to be considered great, because it has its flaws. For starters, the performances are sub-par, and this doesn't help boast the development of the already one-dimensional characters. Second of all, the animation towards the end of the film with the corpse decaying and blood squirting is too unreal to be effective. Third, the story often loses its audience's attention because it focuses entirely too much on the action and the violence, and it prohibits any furtherization of the film's theme. There are several more flaws, but I don't feel like going on and on about them just to get a point across. As much as I like this film, which believe me is a whole lot, it's just not a great horror movie. A few things I do like though: the violence, the creepy scene with Ashley in the basement, the first possession involving the playing cards, the first attack in the forest, the camera swiftly dodging trees as it lures closer and closer to the run-down cabin, the camera angles during scenes of action... I like the movie a lot, and I think it's well-made as far as independent films go. However, it's not perfect, and it's certainly not one of the best of the genre. I'm giving The Evil Dead a generous 7 out of 10.

Overrated. That's all I can say. The only reason why people love this film and the others is because it became a cult hit. I prefer Dead by Dawn. Much more comedy and gore. The tree rape scared me like the oral sex in Re-Animator. 6/10 (**/12 out of ****)

10/10, because as a kid, this was one of the most extremely intense and memorable movies I'd ever seen, and even after watching it a million times, the scene where Sheryl is melting and looks right down at Ash creeps me out. I also lvoe the soundtrack to death. Evil Dead wasn't just a movie to me, it was an experience *tears well up*. I also have to admit movies like Empire of the Ants gave me similar feelings...
