Figured this topic had some stuff everyone can pitch in on.
Where do you see the Future of Horror going? What do think should be changed. What is a good idea and should stay the same?

The future is gonna be every single fucking horror film remade, pissed on, and anything original will consist of one dopey twit from Dawsons Creek and it will stink. End.

I believe that the future franchises for horror would include: Jeepers Creepers, Bubba Ho Tep, and maybe the characters from wrong turn...
Jason will probably be around aswell, along with Michael and maybe Freddy.

The way I see it, horror buffs of the future will call this area "The Remake Era." Almost every horror film is gonna be remade to milk the profits by greedy studios that will overshadow good, interesting efforts from Lions Gate and other horror pro studios.
I can see why horror fans would dispair at this point, but I think this is just a signal that this Generation of horror is beginning to fade, and a new era of horror will emerge, as well as new icons and directors that will become new staples of the genre.
Don't dispair yet.

I will stick with it too see what new ideas do happen. Outside of America, there are still some new ideas still.

Saw, Shaun of the Dead, Bubba-Ho-Tep, Jeepers Creepers... horror have plenty of talk about, lot of creativity have been shown.
But in the other hand it's the unnecesary remakes...

Not alot of remakes have been made yet, the majority of them have just been planned. They still may be cancelled.

We can only hope, Dar. Saw, Shaun of the Dead, Bubba-Ho-Tep, Jeepers Creepers... horror have plenty of talk about, lot of creativity have been shown. But in the other hand it's the unnecesary remakes... Good point. All those films you mentioned are very good, and Jeepers Creepers was a mainstream film, so it's still possible to make good mainstream horror films. The right people just have to do it.

I actually think horror is pretty strong right now... we're getting several pretty damn good films. Yes I agree, I see the remake numbers climbing. Yet, I think that's not going to be so bad. Take the good remakes with the good new films, and I think horror is going to be on the up in the now and near future.

Really, the whole remake thing isn't just horror, everytihng is getting re done now, from fashion to tv to movies, its all recycled garbage hoping to be retro because thats so hip these days. Hollywood, for the most part, lacks originality, and its a shame with so many talented actors and directors around. Saw ans Shawn are fresh rays of hope for the horror genre at least, but the entire spectrum is fading fast.
