Sure, we all watched horror films that scared us. But are there any films that consistantly scare you every time you watch it? You know what is going to happen, you know when it will happen, but it still frightens you regardless every damn time!
Only two films have this effect on me. The first is The Exorcist. That little demon girl always freaks me out. Everything from the crab walking to the floating above the bed to the green puke freaks me out.
The second one is Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. The friggin' atmosphere in this motha is so thick you can cut it with a knife. The river of blood flowing from the elevator, the twin girls, and the old hag in the hotel room frightens me.

Well, this is tough for me. Last night, for the first time in my life, I watched Deep Red, an Italian horror film from horror director Dario Argento. Comparing it to every other horror film ever made, it remains to this very moment the scariest movie I've ever seen.
But, the question here is, "what movie persistently scares me?". The first one is a little tiny indie movie called Session 9, an obscure gem with haunting imagery and an unsettling atmosphere. The scene where Hank is gathering the newly discovered coins and he sees the shadow of a dark figure at the end of the corridor while walking out remains one of the creepiest scenes I have ever seen.
Another film is The Shining [1980], specifically the scene where the beautiful woman turns into a terrifying old lady, snickering with one of the most sinister laughs ever recorded. Nice choice there, Lavaboy. The twins also creep me out bigtime.
There are more that scare me, and some that have an effect on me, but these are the ones that do it best. I can't watch these two films alone (Deep Red as well), and I think that something that powerful is what makes a truly scary movie.

Session 9 is a great film, highly underated and should be watched by more people..As for scareing me...I can still get creeped out by certain scenes from movies but nothing really scares me anymore...

I'd say Hellraiser, one of the only films to ever scare me.

I've yet to see a movie that'll scare me everytime, the effect eventually wears off. However, The Exorcist always guarantees at least one shiver if I watch it alone.

The Shining creeps me out. Poltergiest's clown always fucking scares me. Hellraiser is just plain scary. Hellbound: Hellraiser II is as creepy as part 1.

I dunno about scaring, but I know a horror movie is good if I wake up a few times during the nights because I had dreams about the film. Pinhead and Pennywise are perfect examples.

"It" Clowns scare the bujeebers out of me (so much that I have to use the word bujeebers). Same here, I'm reduced to goosebumps whenever I pop this one on. The first 10 seconds, just thinking about it, is giving me the creeps. That music just does something to me when the "IT" logo appears.
