What does Chiller refer to on this picture? The obscure Wes Craven movie or was Chiller a term for a certain horror genre back then?

I think it means a type of genre of horror.

It was slightly before my time, but wasn't there a TV show back in the 80's called Chiller Theatre? It would show old horror films and cult classics - you know, films you normally wouldn't see on TV. Anyway, this TV show developed quite a fan base so that is perhaps where the "Chiller" comes from in that quote. The critic is referring to the fans of the show who would no doubt like Return of the Living Dead. I don't think it's a sub-genre of horror as I have never heard of it, and doesn't Return of the Living Dead fall under the "zombie" sub-genre anyway?

It's a chiller because it's supposed to give you chills. Therefore the critic is recommending the movie to people who want chills. People like us! I don't think it's a genre, sub-genre or any of that.

In the beginning, didn't a hand come out of the ground? Anyway, I think the comment is being looked at way too litterally. It's not a movie, that's for sure. It's just reffering to horror movies as "Chillers" like critics do often.

He's not a blow up doll. They usually have the sewing on the right side near the arm... uhhh i mean, they probably do. I wouldn't know.
