Stephen King's novels have redifined horror literature. Some of the many movies based on his works have redifined the horror film industry. Salem's Lot is one of the best Stephen King Adaptations. Acting: Good here. Most of the actors do a fine job. James Mason is pitch perfect as Straker. He gives a nice, creepy performance. Reggie Nalder is very scary as Barlow. King's Barlow was cultured and normal, but I find that there are just too many vampires like that. Special FX: Dated, but still not bad. Barlow's makeup is good. Directing: Tobe Hooper does some creepy stuff and gives the film a creepy feeling. Overall: Salem's Lot is definently wort a look. Rating: 8/10
