I regularly skim over reviews on sites like IMDB and whotnot, and it seems that people review the one movie, just one because they really want to slander it, an enemy movie if you will. Call me condescending or whatever, but I always looked down on these people, they seemed so petty, using their time for slander, not being open minded. I never thought I would ever do such a thing... until now.
Necromantik, well, I've seen this movie before and those who know me know that I really don't like it. The "thing" revolves around the life of one sick lil puppy who has the job of cleaning up areas where people have recently died. This leprous lil Benji sometimes takes pieces home to store in his living room, TCM style. One day, his crew find a whole corpse, which Sick Sam takes home so him and his girlfriend can have a lil bit of fun with it. Soon, he loses his job, and his life takes a downward spiral, eventually leading up to an explosive finaly.
On the technical side of things, necromantik, well... sucks. There are wholey uninspired camera angles that stay on the one spot for far too long, which is never a good case in a film like this, the male heterosexual audience will know what I mean. The story becomes far too uhhhh, trippy to make sense and patience gets lost rather quickly. The only neat aspect of this film is the music, so to get the best out of this film, you'll have to unplug the video cable and crank those sounds right up, plus its in German so you don't have to listen to whats happening! The symbolism in the film is so sickeningly obvious I won't even go into it, stupid rabbit, crumbling insanity, wrong wrong wrong.
Now, me, I love gore, I love blood- I giggled and gagged in the leg shaving scene in Cabin fever- I did nothing but cheer in the final half hour of Braindead, name any memorable violent moment in any old film and I'll tell you glorious stories about how fun they were for me, but some stuff in this takes the cake- now I know that is gonna make you all want to watch it more but hear this; the movie is completely fecking boring. The violence in the film wouldn't have bothered me if the thing was at least half interesting, weird, I can't explain. It is one of those films were you spend ages tracking it down, you pop it in incredibly excited, you sit and watch for five minutes, realise its not all its cracked up to be, turn off the VCR and make sandwiches. By the way, I don't have that short of an attention span when it comes to movies, I can watch the original Dawn of the Dead over and over and not noticve the pace and when I first watched Cabin fever, I thought it was a fast paced slick horror film. Necromantik- nausiatingly slow- now this crap has got me so mad and riled up I'm gonna sit in my room and count backwards from ten.
