I heard a lot about this British zombie film and had very very high expectations, I heard it was like the show "Spaced," so I went in knowing what to expect, I was in the right frame of mind- but it turned out to be far different, and a million times better.
Shaun of the Dead is a modern tale about a normal group of modern people thrust into a zombie apocalypse. THe story focuses on a loser named Shaun who works at an electronics shop, with a dead end life, and soon the apocalypse comes about. For many days Shaun has no idea that any of this is happening, but soon finds out in one hell of a hilarious manner. He decides to travel to pick up his girlfriend, and hide out in none other than the local pub. The beauty of this movie is that these characters are us, they would react the exact same way we would, they're incredibly fun to watch. The zombies in the film aren't your new wave run and scream like banshees bastich's either, they're simple Romero style creeps. The film also manages to pull off something that hasn't been done since Return of the Living Dead- it managed to be a spoof and a serious zombie movie at the same time, I love this film. Don't even get me started on the soundtrack, badass Dawn '78 stuff.
Wonderful gore, camera that is very pleasing to the eye, not this shakyseizurecan'ttellwhatthefeckisgoingoncrap that every hip director seems to need and wonderful characters make this one of the best and funniest zombie movies of all time, in fact its #2 on my list of all time greatest zombie films (#1- Dawn'78). When you go and see this, be in the mood for a lighthearted fun time, don't expect to be terrified, go in for a laugh.
