"The Evil Dead" Directed by Sam Reimi Tagline: "Can they be stopped?" Plot: 5 friends travel to stay in a cabin, without knowing that and evil sleeps there. When they woke them up, they start to possess the young ones.... Cast Bruce Campbell / Ashley "Ash" Williams Hal Delrich / Scotty Betsy Baker / Linda Ellen Saindweiss / Cheryl Theresa Tilly / Shelly The movie acting was very good. Through in this movie Bruce "Ash" Campbell it's not that badass in this movie, he acts well, the demons charachters were very scary and funny, specially Betsy Baker one. The direction at charge of Sam reimi was awesome, with a poor low budget, he have done an bloody gory entertaining movie. The music was chilling, no one excpects if the deadites are there to jump or the voices to scream. There was some nice action in the fighting between the humans vs the possesed demons. The gore factor is in it's max level, we got some ax chops, some melting , an pencil stabing(ouch!) , some good face smacking and the nice shotgun shots in the face. Overall this movie is an horror masterpiece, that shouldn't be missed, if you always liked "The Exorcist" kind of demons with some trash talk and some zombie splatter factor style, this movie is perfect for you. I gave this cult classic out of 5.

I love this movie, but I think I'd mark Evil Dead 2 slightly higher, as it was more coheasive and the acting was much better. The acting aside from Campbell was pretty hokey.

Evil Dead 2's acting was WAY over the top, in my opinion. Just remember Ted Raimi as Henrietta...... Evil Dead is fantastic, one of the best low budget horror films. Great review, F-Wise.

All that plays on my mind was Scotty from the first one, and Bruce was kinda goofy in it too, especially the opening car ride.

I wouldn't say it was over the top, it was pretty bad at times though. However as i said before, Campbell was better in Evil Dead 2 than Evil Dead 1.

The Evil Dead is a very good horror flick with a great atmosphere. The suspense in the last act of the film with Ashley all alone is just amazing. The special effects are decent enough concerning the film's limited budget, and the actors did what they could with what they were given. It has everything that makes a horror movie work, and I think that's why it's so well received amongst horror fans.
I'm probably the only person in the friggon' free world that despises the following sequels, and I'm probably the only person who hates Ash.

I dont think your the only person who hates Ash, there have been other members here who have hated Ash.

Yeah, he is also one of the coolests hero's ever. Ash seems different to the normal movie hero, maybe its his attitude, or maybe its just Bruce Campbell. lol
