A killer (Tom Rolfing) is on the lose stalking and killing brides to be and their friends.
Detective Len Gamble (Lewis Arlt) is on the hunt for the killer the case is very personal since his wife was killed years before.
The killer sets his sights on Amy Jensen (Caitlin O’Heaney); he begins to follow her around but Amy ignores it even though she suspects something is not quite right.
But soon she will learn that what she was seeing wasn’t in her imagination.
Rest of the cast includes Don Scardino, Elizabeth Kemp, Patsy Pease, James Rebhorn, James Carroll with Paul Gleason and Tom Hanks.
The script by Scott Parker was well done, his script was well written with likeable characters.
Director Armand Mastroianni does a solid job, he his able to create some atmosphere and suspense and make a solid slasher movie.
After the success of John Carpenter’s “Halloween,” slasher movies were in; “Halloween” wasn’t the first of it’s kind but did kick off the slasher genre.
And its fairly obvious “He Knows You’re Alone” was highly influenced by “Halloween” all the way from the script to the directing and the score by Alexander & Mark Peskanov.
The score sounds a lot like the “Halloween Theme” by John Carpenter.
“He Knows You’re Alone” has built up a cult following and has it’s fare share of fans, while others just simply dismiss it as yet another “Halloween” clone.
Like I said before “He Knows You’re Alone” is influenced by “Halloween,” but it also has a style of it’s own.
During the early 80’s slasher films were in big time; “He Knows You’re Alone” was released in 1980 the same year as such slasher flicks as “Friday the 13th” and “Prom Night.”<br>
“He Knows You’re Alone” was one of the first slasher movies to come along during the 80’s craze; for one this movie isn’t about teens getting killed.
It also doesn’t need a high body count with a lot of gore and a lot of nudity to be effective.
I find “He Knows You’re Alone” to be a very underrated movie the main reason this movie is known is due to the fact it features Tom Hanks in his screen debut.
And in my opinion it should be known for more then just that; the finale of the movie doesn’t seem to work quite that well, while not bad just a bit of a letdown from everything that came before it.
The opening scene was excellent, which was used in “Scream 2” with a few changes.
Maybe the fact “He Knows You’re Alone” was shot on Staten Island, Ny is the reason I enjoy this movie so much, since that’s where I live.
But either way I think “He Knows You’re Alone” is an enjoyable movie, while it may not be the best slasher film made it still gets the job done.
I give “He Knows You’re Alone” 8/10
