Okay I have no idea where to start on this movie..I didn't hate it nor did i really love it.. Mostly I was just left scratching my head...
It is about a man named Trevor who may or may not be losing his mind. He wakes up in an sanitarium and thinks it is the year 2000.. He is told it is 2004 and he is here because he is criminally insane. He has flashbacks.. Super brief and they don't really tell you much. He is let out into what is basically a halfway house called the House of Love.
You meet several strange people from a women who cries rape on all guys to Seth Green, who's character reminds me of Brad Pitt in 12 monkeys. He is also very flamboyant, but that is explained much later. I won't spoil it now. One of the few things really explained.
Trevor is left to try and find out what happened. The whole time he is spied upon by his "doctor" who is after a book. There is some other stuff about murder, Magic with a k, and who is really crazy..
The acting is pretty wooden for the most part, Seth Green does a good job but everyone else seems to be either new or didn't like the script but did it anyway. Some of the music doesn't really fit and at one point between the music and the sceance it was like watching a porno. lol.
Overall if you want something to do, or if you are stoned or drunk this might just be the movie for you. I would like to hear other peoples take on it and just what they think happened. Sam Raimi's brother also stars in this movie. The best way I can sum it up is say David Lynch or some other way off the wall/beaten path director, though less talented, got on Acid and PCP and then watched Identity and The Truman Show either back to back or at the same time and then made this movie. Taking elements of both. Horror wise, I would say it is close to "Don't Look in The Basement."
