The Punisher was not quite the action film it was made out to be. In fact, the action is few and far between. The only one i really even liked was when Frank Castle takes on this huge russian assassin, played by WWE's Kevin Nash.
A couple of things really kept me from enjoying this movie.
The first being the score. This has got to be some of the worst music in a movie in a long time. I normally dont even notice the score but man this was a stinker.
Second was Travolta. I had high hopes for him considering he plays villians with such cool and panache. Not here, though. He looks like he doesnt give a shit and doesnt even try to entertain. No pulp fiction stuff here.
Oddly, the best thing i liked was Thomas Jane as Frank Castle. He had the look and feel of a man who falls into a downward spiral of madness and sorrow, traits the Punisher possesses. Good job, Jane.
Not the best it could have been, but it goes down the right path, unlike the first Dolph Lundgren film, and at least shows him as a man troubled and not just an avenging angel.
