This could be more than meets the eye…<br>Variety reports that Dreamworks and Paramount Pictures have tabbed John Rogers to write the live-action adaptation of The Transformers. Rogers will convert a treatment written by producer Tom DeSanto into a first draft of the screenplay. Don Murphy, DeSanto and Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce the film with along Steven Spielberg executive producing under his Dreamworks banner.
I’ve been a fan of the Transformers since I was a little kid. I grew up with the cartoons. I own the animated movie on DVD. I was also the one who told everyone that the theme song of the animated movie (“You Got the Touch” by Lion) was the same song sung by Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights. How’s THAT for trivia.
But, I’m not quite sure about a live-action film. I guess it depends on how they treat the Autobots and Decepticons. Will they be real animatronics mixed with CGI, or will they be entirely CGI? I guess I won’t pass judgment on it until I see a trailer.
