You know…watching two hours of a guy getting hit in nuts would be better.
Variety reports that Joel Silver is very bi-polar when it comes to movie projects. The man that made all 3 Matrix films announced that Silver Pictures will produce a third, that’s right a THIRD, Dungeons & Dragons movie. Now the first film tanked hard in the box office, and the second won’t be released until 2005. Now they already want to produce a third film?
The first came out almost 3 years ago, and there would be no momentum going into the second film. In fact, the only people I think would go still live in their parent’s basements. There’s a good chance that they wouldn’t even have the money to go to the film. Too much money spent on Magic decks and Hero Clix.
Which brings me to my scary moment with D&D story. I was in Manhattan, KS shooting the small film, Evil Is the World For Emily. I stopped in a small comic book store that was more a gaming store that sold comic books. I was browsing the limited selection when I heard a conversation at the counter. The guy manning the counter was talking to a hardcore gamer, when the gamer said, “I wish I had a magic-user that could control white mice.” I quickly left the store and shivered in fright.
I don’t want to know why he wanted a magic-user that could control white mice, but I knew why he didn’t have a date for the night. I know if I ever went to see D&D 3, that guy wanting a white mice controlling magic-user will be there, pointing out how bad the basilisk looks. God, it’s a shame I know what a basilisk is…<br>
