I remember watching this with my sister back when it came out. Nearly always kicked ass.
If it wasn't The Simpsons in the living room with everyone at night, it was (I believe) after school watching either this, or the new adventures of Batman and Robin. The two were pretty much on the exact same ground as far as I was concerned.
I never liked the shit copy cattin' mothas. No, I could never watch an full episode. It was basically boring, laser firing assholes who wanted to do in some unstoppable superhero.
This series wasn't too different, but where it was... it was. It also has the fact of it being the first going for it. If you're a fan of Batman, surely you enjoyed this show in your youth. I say, every once in a while... let the kid come out. (I never say that, but for the sake of whatever this is... go with it)
In closing... I'd say it was most definately one of the best cartoons ever. You can buy season one at your local Best Buy. I did.

Batman: The Animated Series is by far one of the most faithful cartoon adaptations of any comic book work next to the Spawn series on HBO. I have the first Season on DVD, and I enjoy it very much, being a Batman fan. Plus Mark Hamill's voice performance as the Joker is perfect. The funny thing is that a ton of the episodes are more serious and dark than the 3rd and 4th Batman films! I also enjoyed the film Mask of the Phantasm film based on the series. I agree, a fantastic cartoon.

You mean the old 60s Spiderman cartoon? They were pretty fun, I've only seen a few episodes, though.

This cartoon was pretty kick-ass! I remember watching it when I was younger...... I don't recall it ever being a let down.... And Bub's right, this show was very often darker than that las couple (not Tim Burton) films..... ah, Tim Burton, the series misses you....

Going off the Mark Hamil as Joker..Anyone see the Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker..Don't watch BB usually but wanted to see the Joker in the Future, pretty gritty stuff, Liked how they made the Joker ruthless and crazy with what he did to Robin.

I got the first season for thirty-five dollars I believe.
On another note, out of all the great villians... my favorite is definately The Madhatter. His style, his smile, his particular schemes. In this show, I thought most of the villians were almost as cool as Batman... but for me... The Madhatter was.

I agree. For a kids cartoon, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker had some pretty damn dark material for a kids cartoon. Originally, I heard Robin was supposed to kill the Joker by impaling him with a modified pop gun that shot a spear.
