It's not real, well... it's real but not really real.  The Texas Chainsaw Massacre did not REALLY happen, but of course they REALLY made a movie, and it's only slightly based on reality. |

Ed Gein was boring, sure he did weird shit, but he was relatively dull. Leatherface is a souped up version of him. I know people who still think that footage is real. lol. I love to fuck with their heads.
