I went and saw this movie today, to be honest I was not expecting all that much, some of the ads looked good and I enjoy South Park.
So I went in without too high of expections, even though the local critic liked it and he hates EVERY movie he sees. I ended up laughing for almost the entire film.
Trey and Matt hit the nail on the head with the satire, and no one is safe. They nail the Bush side, with the Knee jerk reactions to terror to the Film Actors Guild(F.A.G.) and even Micheal Moore.
To them EVERYONE is wrong. Team America always ends up blowing up way more then the terrorists ever could. From the Eiffel Tower to the Pyramids at Gaza and the Spinx nothing is spared. The movie goes out of the way to be offensive and succeds from massive death of puppets with buckets of blood to shooting and even Puppet sex.(one of the funniest scenes ever).
Even the soundtrack fits, they spoof everything from the rash of sad country songs that flooded the radio right after 9/11 to a Theme song that would do Tenanicus D proud. The take off of the Musical Rent was classic as well.
Even though they didn't have too, they had back stories for all the puppets and the reasons why they do what they do. The montages were priceless as well from why we fight and believe in America and the face Freedom has a price to how far you would go to show that you want to defend America.
I would recommend this movie to everyone, it was great with the satire. No one is spared from Bush to Moore to Alec Baldwin, Tim Robbins and even Samual L Jackson.
I went in not expecting much and got alot more then I bargined for.
9/10
